orpensmojito

INGREDIENTS

35.5 ml of Orpens Cider
35.5 ml of Havana Club 3 Year Old Rum
15 ml of fresh lime juice
25 ml of vanilla syrup
8-10 mint leaves

METHOD

Gently muddle the mint with the lime juice in a shaker for a few seconds to release their aroma and flavour. Place the rum and vanilla syrup into the shaker with some ice. Shake for ten seconds and pour all the contents into a long glass. Top up with Orpens Cider. Garnish with a smacked mint sprig and stir
with 2 straws.

NOTES:

The Mojito’s popularity ranks it alongside the Classic Martini and the Bloody Mary. Its versatility means that anyone can put their own signature on it which makes it fun to keep trying. As a result it would be irresponsible for us not to do an Orpens version. We balance the crispness of the cider with the use of the vanilla syrup; this rounds off the flavours nicely. We also use the Cuban method of making the drink and don’t leave lime wedges in. It would also work just as well with crushed ice. The fresh herbal notes of the cocktail contrast really well with smoky barbecued dishes such as Jerk chicken and pulled pork
which are natural partners to cider apple flavours.
